Illinois Grain Prices in Country Elevators

This is Tuesday's report of the grain prices and trends prepared by the USDA and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Illinois country grain prices were slightly lower on Tuesday afternoon. Futures prices drifted lower in light trading. There was very little fresh news to move prices and traders were still looking forward to the release of the latest US and world Supply Demand estimates on Thursday.

In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids steady to 2 cents lower at 6.22-6.34. Soybean bids were 1 to 3 cents lower at 12.02-12.12. In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were down 2 cents at 6.34-6.50. Soybean bids were 1 to 3 cents lower at 12.08-12.22. In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were mostly 2 to 5 cents lower at 6.44-6.63. Soybean bids were steady to 1 cent lower at 12.16-12.35. Wheat bids were 7 to 8 cents lower at 6.49-6.62.

Receipts: 689 Last Week: 696 Year Ago: 37

Compared to last week, slaughter steers and heifers sold 1.00 to 1.50 lower.
Slaughter Holstein steers sold 1.00 lower. Feeder cattle sold mostly 4.00 to
5.00 higher. No trend available for slaughter cows or bulls as they were not
reported last week. Slaughter steers accounted for 12 percent of the run;
slaughter Holstein steers 8 percent; slaughter heifers 7 percent; slaughter cows
20 percent; slaughter bulls 1 percent; bred cows/cow-calf pairs 4 percent; and
feeder cattle 48 percent. In the feeder run, steers 15 percent; Holstein steers
24 percent; heifers 41 percent; and bulls 20 percent. Feeder cattle over 600
lbs 27 percent.
